Practice

Why are people afraid to talk to others in public ?

Meeting someone new is always a difficult task because you will never know how the first impression might turnout. When seeing that pretty girl or guy on the street, inside your brain you are thinking 'damn if only' but in reality you just keep walking and go on with your day. Why is that? Why cannot we break the habit of seeing someone pretty and just say something? My analogy is people are afraid of denial.
Denial can affect a person very dearly because it is kind of embarrassing being turned down. Being denied by a family member in your house is very different than being denied by a person on a train or at a restaurant. I realized that it is easier to talk to someone based on the certain environment you are in. On the train everyone wants to get home without encountering a crazy man doing a ridiculous stunt. If you were in a bar where the atmosphere is supposed to be social the ability to have conversation is much easier.
Now I am not saying it is impossible to get a pretty girls number on the train or bus, it is just not an easy task. In my life I am trying to get the confidence to just walk up to an attractive woman and speak to her. I am not an awkward person but I am not Brad Pitt either. When known by others, people will tend to attempt to speak to you. Well in my generation they will just stare and look away when they turn their head in your direction. The only way to get rid of that fear is practice! Ignore all of the worries and consequences just be brave and hope he or she responds in a respectful manner. If it does not turn out well you can just say you tried. There is nothing shameful about that.
